Значи общо взето това е въпроса - възможно ли е и как?
Под виртуален десктоп разбирам видимата област на екрана да е да речем 1024х768, а общата 1280х1024 и със скролиране да може да се "обикаля". Аз лично допусках, че това зависи от драйверите на кратата (Радеон7500/9000), но не открих нищо по въпроса. Някой да може да помогне?
Пич за такова животно не съм и чувал! има логика да има ама нещо се съмнявам! трябва някоя от другите разбирачи да каже щото въпроса е интересен!
Абе за имане - трябва да има. Едно време (преди 5-6 години) си спомням, че имах някаква карта дето това го правеше нормално (в драйверите си имаше опция и го правеше). Предполагам, че и сега все някак може да стане.
А като функционалност това е доста полезно. Особенно за по малки монитори или за хора работещи интензивно със разни програмки.
Това бяха карите на Matrox, които за времето си бяха на доста високо ниво. А и сега има страхотни модели, но в провесиналните. Едва ли днес в геймърските карти ще си напшравят труда да сложат такива неща, полезни най-вече за инженерите. Приказка е да работиш с CAD програма така... или пък на два монитора с "двуглав" Matrox.

Tова нещо (по-скоро нещо подобно) си съществува съвсем реално - само че мойе да си създадеш повече от 1 десктоп, които са наредени под формата на матрица и може да превключваш между тях. Най-лесно е ако имаш GF4MX, а ако пък нямаш има една програмка сето прави точно това, не съм сигурен но май се казваше нещо като virtualdesktop, clonedesktop или нещо от тоя сорт...теглил съм си я на времето от Сетком-а

Linux-a (XFree-to) go move ...adski e priatno za rabota obache po niakakwa prichina windowsa otkazwa da go pusne.

NVidia go mucha ot 2dena i nishto ne mi idwa na akula... driverite uporito si razpoznawat i polzwat DDC to na monitora i ne moga da gi overwritna :( ...imam ideja da si napisha sobswen .inf fail z amonitora i da go instaliram ...no mislia che XP -to twurdo i uporito shte pingwa hardware..

This issue affects ATI products using ATI Enhanced Display Drivers under Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
When using a non-DDC monitor the refresh rate used will remain at 60Hz regardless of the refresh rate selected in the Windows DISPLAY PROPERTIES panel.
Under Windows 2000/XP, ATI Display adapters take advantage of the DDC signals sent by the monitor. These signals indicate what resolutions and refresh rates the monitor is capable of.
Some older monitors are not DDC compliant and do not provide these signals. When no DDC information is received from the monitor, the video card defaults to a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 and a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz.
These default settings can be changed from within the Windows 2000/XP Display Properties as follows.
To increase the maximum allowable resolution or refresh rate....
Open the DISPLAY PROPERTIES.
Select the SETTINGS Tab.
Click the ADVANCED button.
Select the ATI DISPLAYS tab.
Click the MONITOR button.
Under the ATTRIBUTES choose the maximum resolution and refresh rate supported by your monitor using the drop down menus.
Click the OK button.
Once this change has been made select the resolution you wish to use as usual using the SETTINGS tab. The refresh rate can be changed using the MONITOR tab in the ADVANCED options in Display Panel.
WARNING: Increasing the resolution or refresh rate beyond the monitors capabilities can DAMAGE your monitor. Please refer to your monitor documentation for the settings specific to your monitor.

Q. I cannot set my refresh rate above 75hz under Windows 2000. How can I fix
it?
In Windows 2000 for some drivers some people cannot set the refresh
rate above 75hz even if they use the NVIDIA Refresh Rate Fix program.
It appears that some monitors do not send DDC information correctly,
and these drivers use the DDC information to set refresh rates -
Philips monitors are fine but other makes like IIyama are not. The
following fixes help for some people but not others:
* The 21.81 Detonator XP drivers appear to fix this problem for most
if not all people.
* You may be able to fix this by installing your monitor as a
'Default Monitor' in Windows instead of using the specific
drivers.
* You may be able to fix the problem by leaving your monitor off
until Windows has finished loading, stopping Plug and Play from
detecting the monitor.
* If your monitor supports BNC inputs, try plugging your monitor in
using these instead. This will disable the Plug and Play support
that seems to be causing the problems.
* You can try physically removing pin 15 from your D-SUB monitor
connector. This will have the same effect as using a BNC cable as
this pin is used for Plug and Play support. You will, of course,
almost certainly void your monitor's warranty by doing this. The
pins on the cable are numbered as following:

If you don't want to pull apart your monitor's signal cable, get a
monitor signal extension cable and take out those pins instead.
This may cause degraded 2D display because the longer lead will
allow for more interference.
* You can also use PowerStrip to manually set refresh rates - you
can download a demo of PowerStrip at the following website:

* Ideally there should be a switch in the drivers to turn off using
DDC information to set refresh rates - if anyone knows of such a
switch, let me know.
Niakoj move li da go izmisli za NVidia ?
Наистина съществува такова нещо... Имах едно време една карта - Trident, която потдържаше тази опция чрез драйверите (под уиндоус 3.1) - видимата част на екрана е например 800х600, действителната - 7024х768 и чрез скролиране с мишката се преместваш по десктопа. Виждал съм програми, които разцепват десктопа, но такива, предлагащи тази възможност - не.
